Healthcare expansion strengthens medical links between Indonesia and Malaysia

Healthcare services between Indonesia and Malaysia are expanding through new medical collaborations and infrastructure investments. In Bukittinggi, Indonesia, a Medical Collaboration Office for Putra Specialist Hospital Melaka has been inaugurated at Universitas Fort De Kock. This initiative, supported by West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah, aims to facilitate medical consultations, information access, and referral processes for patients requiring specialized care not available locally.

Simultaneously, in Sarawak, Malaysia, HMI Medical Group has commenced construction of the Regency Specialist Hospital Kuching. This SMART tertiary hospital, representing an initial investment of over RM400 million, is designed with a 300-bed capacity and is expected to begin operations in 2029. The project, which was marked by a groundbreaking ceremony led by Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg, aims to bolster Malaysia's medical tourism sector by providing advanced cancer centers, high-tech operating rooms, and integrated digital clinical workflows.
