Healthcare infrastructure developments in Portugal and Angola

In Portugal, the Unidade Local de Saúde do Oeste (ULS do Oeste) has announced the completion of renovation works at the Lourinhã Health Center. Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) with an investment of approximately 855,293 euros, the project modernized the facilities to improve efficiency and technical conditions. The renovation also prepared the infrastructure for a future Integrated Diagnostic Center, including radiology capabilities.

In Angola, Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta stated that the new Luanda Oncology Hospital is expected to be completed between June and July 2027. Following a visit by President João Lourenço, the minister noted that the facility will feature 149 beds and advanced services such as nuclear medicine, high-complexity radiotherapy, and robotic surgery. The hospital aims to reduce the need for patients to seek cancer treatment abroad and address high mortality rates from diseases such as breast, cervical, and prostate cancer.
