Healthcare infrastructure expands in Zitácuaro and Cuenca
In Zitácuaro, Michoacán, Mayor Antonio Ixtláhuac Orihuela announced a new agreement with IMSS Bienestar to expand healthcare coverage to residents currently lacking social security. The registration process is being conducted digitally, with local affiliation drives planned to assist citizens. By 2027, registered individuals will be able to access services at a new hospital currently under construction, which is approximately 35 percent complete and expected to finish by December. Additionally, the 'Plan Michoacán' will establish health houses in various communities to monitor patients and medication.
In Cuenca, Ecuador, the Municipal Hospital of Baños is tentatively scheduled to open in the first week of September, pending final operational permits from the health quality agency ACESS. The facility represents an investment of over USD 7.4 million and is located in the Huizhil Alto sector. The three-story hospital will feature 22 beds, two operating rooms, an emergency zone, a neonatology unit, and 12 consultation rooms, equipped with advanced imaging technology such as tomographs.
