Healthcare infrastructure expansion planned in Revúca and Prague

Healthcare facilities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are undergoing significant structural changes and expansion projects. In Revúca, Slovakia, the Hospital with Polyclinic (NsP) Revúca plans to invest over seven million euros into its infrastructure. A key part of this initiative is the creation of a long-term care department. Following the opening of a 28-bed unit in August 2026, the hospital aims to add another 42 beds to reach a total of 60 beds dedicated to convalescence and chronic care. Additionally, the hospital is developing a Regional Center for Integrated Healthcare to house general practitioners, pediatricians, and outpatient services under one roof.

In Prague, Czech Republic, discussions are advancing regarding the construction of a modern super-hospital. The government is considering the Faculty Hospital Královské Vinohrady as a preferred location, though the Letňany area is also being discussed for its potential to serve Central Bohemia. Experts suggest that the Vinohrady site could accommodate between 1,200 and 1,500 beds if existing outdated structures are replaced. This project may involve relocating parts of the Bulovka and General University Hospital facilities, while existing sites like Bulovka could be repurposed for specialized infectious disease clinics.
