Arica healthcare infrastructure projects advance with new hospital and health center

Health infrastructure projects are advancing in the Arica and Parinacota region of Chile. The project for a new Family Health Center (Cesfam) in Azapa has received technical approval, allowing it to move into the design, bidding, and construction phases. This facility is expected to benefit approximately 7,000 residents.

Additionally, the Undersecretary of Assistance Networks, Julio Montt, reaffirmed the government's commitment to constructing a new High-Complexity Hospital in Arica. This major investment is projected to benefit 244,569 people. Authorities noted that while these large-scale projects are in the 'back office' stages, they are progressing steadily to address the needs of extreme regions.

To strengthen the immediate healthcare network, the Ministry of Health will also finance a SAPU (Primary Care Emergency Service) and a new SAPU in the northern sector of the city is expected to open in the coming weeks.
