Healthcare leaders call for improved management in Honduras and Ceuta

In Honduras, former manager of the Social Security Hospital of Specialties, Henry Andino, has criticized the government's approach to healthcare funding. He expressed concern over the use of public funds to pay private hospitals for surgical procedures, noting that approximately 10 million lempiras have been paid for 145 procedures to address backlogs. Andino argued that while saving lives is a priority, the government must focus on strengthening the public health system and ensuring adequate resources rather than relying on expensive private sector interventions.

In Spain, Juan Abarca, president of HM Hospitales, has called for immediate action by authorities in Ceuta following the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants. Abarca described the situation as a humanitarian and organizational crisis that could escalate into a major public health issue. He emphasized that the response requires better coordination and resource management—including access to water, hygiene, food, and dignified shelter—rather than just financial aid.
