Healthcare leadership updates in France and Haiti

The Diaconesses Croix Saint-Simon hospital group in eastern Paris reports a successful financial and operational turnaround under the leadership of Director General Guillaume Chesnel. Since taking office in mid-2025, Chesnel has focused on maintaining economic solidity without compromising care quality. The non-profit institution ended 2025 in financial balance and has expanded its services, including the opening of a second community health center, a new hospital service for city-hospital relations, and the acquisition of advanced surgical and imaging equipment.

In Haiti, Dr. Jory Désir has been appointed as the new director of the Direction Départementale Sanitaire du Nord (DSN). A urologist and former medical director of the Justinien University Hospital, Désir succeeds Dr. Hans Humbold Astrel Charles. The transition was overseen by Dr. Gabriel Timothé, Director General of the Ministry of Public Health and Population. During his nineteen-month tenure, Dr. Charles reported increasing staff contracts from 250 to 751 and overseeing 101 appointments.
