Healthcare professionals honored at medical events in Italy

Various medical and healthcare professionals were honored during recent events in Italy. At the third edition of the ‘Galà de La Salute in Puglia’ held in Bari, awards were presented to researchers, doctors, biologists, and healthcare managers for their contributions to prevention, innovation, and public and private health service management. The event also highlighted the growth of the ‘La Salute in Puglia’ information network.

Separately, during the 127th National Congress of the Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI) in Rimini, the SIMI Solidarity Award was presented to the Papa Giovanni XXIII Community for its commitment to supporting vulnerable and marginalized populations. Dr. Maria Mercedes Rossi, an infectious disease specialist, emphasized that solidarity is a fundamental determinant of health. Additionally, the SIMI International Award was granted to Richard Horton, director of The Lancet, for his advocacy of open and unbiased scientific research.
