Healthcare providers expand presence in Portugal through acquisitions
The Portuguese healthcare sector is seeing increased consolidation through strategic acquisitions by major groups. Affidea, a European healthcare provider, has announced the acquisition of Grupo Cintramédica. This move strengthens Affidea’s presence in the Greater Lisbon area and expands its outpatient services. The acquisition includes 10 clinics, a clinical analysis laboratory, and 21 collection points. Following this integration, Affidea will operate 38 clinics, four hospital units, and three clinical analysis laboratories in Portugal, serving over 2.1 million users annually.
Separately, the Miranza group has entered the Lisbon market by acquiring the Clínica Privada de Oftalmologia (CPO). Located on Avenida da Liberdade, the clinic will now operate as Miranza CPO. This acquisition marks Miranza’s third unit in Portugal, joining its existing locations in Porto and Guimarães. The Lisbon clinic, which recorded over 2 million euros in turnover last year, will benefit from Miranza’s international network of technology and specialists while maintaining its current patient care protocols.
