Healthcare providers in India increase cybersecurity investment
Hospitals in India are significantly increasing investments in cybersecurity to protect digital patient records and ensure uninterrupted care. This shift is driven by the rising sophistication of cyberattacks, particularly ransomware, and growing regulatory expectations regarding data privacy.
According to IBM’s 2025 Cost of a Data Breach Report, healthcare has remained the costliest sector to breach for over a decade, with the average incident taking approximately 279 days to detect. Bipin Kumar Chaudhary, CIO of Fortis Healthcare, noted that cybersecurity has become a board-level priority, with investments moving toward organizational resilience rather than mere compliance.
Rajnish Gupta, Managing Director of Tenable India, highlighted that the increasing sophistication of attacks, often steered by AI, is a primary driver for these heightened security expenditures.
