Healthcare providers launch seasonal flu shot clinics

Several healthcare providers are launching flu vaccination clinics throughout October to prepare for the upcoming flu season.

Stormont Vail is hosting drive-thru and walk-in clinics in Topeka, Manhattan, and Junction City. These include adult drive-thru sessions, pediatric clinics, and walk-in options at various campuses. Brunswick County Health Services is also offering walk-in and pop-up clinics for community members aged six months and older, with no appointments required.

In Maine, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital will host two clinics in October. This includes an adult drive-thru clinic on October 10 and a pediatric/family clinic on October 31. High-dose shots will be available for seniors aged 65 or older.

Health officials emphasize that vaccination reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and transmission to vulnerable populations, such as infants under six months who are ineligible for the vaccine. The CDC recommends that everyone aged six months and older receive a flu vaccine by the end of October.
