Healthcare providers expand diagnostic capabilities and regional reach

Healthcare providers and corporations are expanding diagnostic capabilities and financial performance across Asia and the Caribbean.

In Singapore, Singapore General Hospital, the International Bowel Ultrasound Group, and Johnson & Johnson have launched a regional program to improve care for inflammatory bowel disease. The initiative aims to establish 15 centers capable of intestinal ultrasound (IUS) and will initially train 19 gastroenterologists across Southeast Asia and India to provide non-invasive monitoring.

At the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), twelve physicians completed specialized training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). This training, conducted in collaboration with Mount Sinai International, allows doctors to perform bedside assessments for cardiac, lung, renal, and biliary conditions to speed up clinical decision-making.

Separately, IHH Healthcare reported a 29% year-on-year increase in second-quarter profit after tax, reaching US$136 million. The growth was driven by increased patient volumes in Malaysia, Türkiye, Europe, and India, while Singapore saw rising occupancy rates.
