Healthcare sector shifts toward technology-driven growth and digital integration

The healthcare sector is shifting toward technology-enabled, quality-driven growth, moving away from traditional volume-led expansion. In India, providers are increasingly focusing on seamless patient experiences, incorporating digital health, AI-assisted diagnostics, and telemedicine to extend specialist care beyond major urban centers.

Aster reported performing over 2,695 robotic-assisted surgeries and 575 organ transplants in the last financial year, while also introducing India’s first Intra Operative Electron Radiation Therapy platform. There is an increasing emphasis on centralized patient access models to manage appointment volumes, registration, and insurance verification, which helps reduce administrative costs and improve operational efficiency.

Economic projections suggest hospital growth of 10–15 percent by FY27, driven by rising insurance coverage and specialized AI care. The pharmaceutical industry is also expected to expand by 5–15 percent. India currently supplies approximately 20 percent of the global generic medicine supply and meets nearly 60 percent of global vaccine demand.
