Healthcare service updates in Ubrique and Hospital de la Ribera

Healthcare services in Spain are implementing new organizational models to improve emergency response and hospital capacity. In Ubrique, a new 24/7 emergency system will launch on October 1, 2026, serving the Sierra de Cádiz region, including Benaocaz, Villaluenga del Rosario, Grazalema, El Bosque, and Benamahoma. The model will distribute resources between the Ubrique Health Center for in-person emergencies and the Critical Care and Emergency Device (DCCU) for out-of-center emergencies.

In the Valencian Community, the Hospital de la Ribera has expanded its Home Hospitalization Unit (UHD) to 84 beds, making it the second largest such service in the region. The unit recorded over 3,500 home visits and 3,486 discharges last year, surpassing the activity of the Valencia General Hospital and the Clinical Hospital. This home-based model aims to alleviate pressure on the main hospital, which reported an 88.66% occupancy rate in 2025.
