Healthcare services and funding expand in São Paulo state
Healthcare funding and service productivity in the state of São Paulo have seen significant developments. The 'Tabela SUS Paulista' initiative has distributed R$ 12 billion to 874 philanthropic institutions, including Santas Casas and municipal hospitals, to complement federal SUS values. This program, which expanded to include municipal hospitals in 2023, has contributed to an increase in medical procedures, such as a 42.5% rise in vision surgeries and a 45.6% increase in advanced oncology procedures over the last 12 months.
In the municipality of Paulínia, the health department reported 297,642 services provided between May and August. Of the 28 annual goals monitored, 18 reached satisfactory results, including maintaining a 73-day wait time for specialized consultations. The municipal health network liquidated R$ 233.7 million during this period, with the Municipal Hospital accounting for R$ 121.9 million of that expenditure.
