Healthcare services face disruptions and restructuring in France

Healthcare facilities in France are implementing various measures to manage staffing shortages and high patient volumes. In Villeneuve-sur-Lot, the Pôle de santé du Villeneuvois has announced temporary reorganizations of its emergency department due to insufficient medical personnel. Direct access to the emergency room will be closed to the public during two specific periods: from Wednesday, November 4 at 4:00 PM to Thursday, November 5 at 9:00 AM, and from Friday, November 6 at 4:00 PM to Saturday, November 7 at 9:00 AM.

During these windows, patients are instructed not to arrive spontaneously but to call 15 for a medical evaluation. A regulating physician will then direct them to the most appropriate care, such as an on-call doctor or a different medical structure, to ensure the safety of vital emergency care.

In Quimper, the dental emergency service at the Centre hospitalier de Cornouaille (Chic) has stabilized its operations following a period of intense demand. To manage the influx of patients from surrounding regions, the hospital has implemented an online triage system to distinguish between true emergencies and routine follow-ups. The service is currently supported by eight sixth-year dentistry students performing their final-year internships under senior supervision, a partnership aimed at addressing specialist shortages in the Brittany region.
