Healthcare services improve in Kericho and Uasin Gishu counties

Healthcare services in Kenya's Kericho and Uasin Gishu counties are seeing improvements in equipment, medicine, and diagnostic capabilities. Under the Social Health Authority (SHA), patients report better access to specialized treatment and improved hospital systems, which may reduce the need for costly travel to distant facilities or abroad.

In Uasin Gishu, the county government recorded a 65 per cent performance in the 2026 County Readiness Assessment, indicating progress in health system strengthening. The county also ranked second nationally in vaccine uptake. Officials are currently managing a transition of services and assets between the county government and AMPATH Uzima to ensure the sustainability and continuity of healthcare delivery.
