Juiz de Fora hospital resumes services after debt settlement
The Hospital e Maternidade Therezinha de Jesus in Juiz de Fora has resumed SUS services following a negotiation mediated by the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG). The hospital had previously restricted services, including refusing new hemodialysis patients, due to a debt exceeding R$ 16 million owed by the municipality.
The Juiz de Fora administration held meetings with the MPMG and healthcare providers to discuss financial transfers and contract revisions. Mayor Margarida Salomão confirmed that the measures include the payment of outstanding debts and the allocation of parliamentary amendments to stabilize healthcare services. While services are resuming, elective procedures and consultations will be rescheduled.
