Healthcare staffing shortages reported in Salerno and Brindisi

Labor unions in Italy are raising alarms regarding critical personnel shortages within regional health authorities. In Salerno, the CISL FP union reports that staffing levels for nursing and social-health workers have reached unsustainable lows, specifically impacting the Kennedy and Via Vernieri outpatient clinics. The union notes that staff are being transferred to community clinics without being replaced, forcing remaining nurses to manage multiple specialist clinics simultaneously, which threatens the quality of patient care.

Similarly, in Brindisi, the FP CGIL union has denounced a structural lack of medical radiology technicians (TSRM) and biomedical laboratory technicians (TSBL). The union warns that current staffing levels are inadequate for maintaining regular diagnostic and care activities. They emphasize that while staff stabilization efforts are helpful, they do not solve the fundamental issue of insufficient total numbers, which leads to excessive workloads and difficulties in managing shifts and rest periods.
