Healthcare updates address pediatric shortages in Gravina and Agnone

Local health authorities in Italy are addressing pediatric care shortages in Gravina and Agnone through new administrative measures.

In Gravina, a new pediatrician, Dr. Tisci, has agreed to split her practice between Altamura and Gravina. Following a technical inspection of the new studio in Piazza Pellicciari, the ASL Bari is finalizing the necessary authorizations. This arrangement will allow approximately 500 families in Gravina to access pediatric services locally two days a week, though officials note this does not fully resolve the underlying structural shortage of territorial pediatric assistance.

In Agnone, regional health delegate Roberto Di Pardo has responded to local criticism regarding the city's exclusion from the 2026 list of shortage zones. Di Pardo clarified that while Isernia and Venafro have been designated as shortage zones, new pediatric contracts will include a mandatory requirement for doctors to open clinics in Agnone for a set number of hours proportional to the pediatric population. This measure aims to resolve the lack of a permanent pediatrician in the Alto Molise area that has persisted since 2023.
