Healthcare updates: Hospital de Linares reports growth and HUCA opens new specialized units
The Hospital de Linares in Chile presented its 2025 management report, highlighting a steady increase in medical services, including emergency care, laboratory exams, imaging, and surgical interventions. Director Dr. René Espinosa noted that the hospital successfully increased production and outlined future challenges, such as reducing waiting lists, attracting new specialists, strengthening telemedicine, and converting administrative spaces into clinical areas to improve patient care.
In Spain, the Hospital Universitario Central de Asturias (HUCA) has completed two new specialized units funded by over 1.5 million euros in European recovery funds. The Clinical Research Unit, costing 806,000 euros, is set to begin operations in October to facilitate clinical trials and innovative treatments. Additionally, a new Rare Diseases Unit, with a budget of 753,350 euros, will begin providing diagnosis and follow-up services for infrequent pathologies in mid-September.
