Healthcare workers in Brazil report recent physical assaults
Healthcare professionals in Brazil have reported recent incidents of physical aggression during medical duties. In Jandaia do Sul, a 38-year-old SAMU paramedic was threatened and assaulted by an intoxicated patient during a transport to the hospital. The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was located by Military Police and arrested following the incident.
In the Grande ABC region, a nursing technician was assaulted at the Vila Luzita Urgent Care Unit (UPA) in Santo André. The professional reported being punched and elbowed by a patient's companion who was attempting to perform chest compressions before the medical team could intervene. This marks the fifth instance of violence against healthcare workers in the region within a single month.
