North Macedonia healthcare workers undergo anti-corruption training
More than 160 healthcare professionals in North Macedonia, including doctors, nurses, midwives, psychologists, and administrative staff, have completed regional training sessions designed to identify and prevent corruption. The training was conducted across eight cities as part of the project ‘A Stronger System for Fairer Protection: Reducing Corruption in Healthcare,’ organized by the Association for Emancipation, Solidarity and Equality of Women (ESE).
The initiative follows an ESE study conducted in late 2025, which revealed that approximately 84 percent of healthcare workers believe corruption is partially or highly widespread in their sector. However, the study also found that only seven percent of those aware of corruption actually reported the cases.
The training aimed to strengthen practical capacities for ethical conduct, recognize corruption risks and their gender dimensions, and utilize reporting mechanisms. The project is supported by Expertise France through the Agence française de développement.
