Mexico State healthcare workers protest unpaid wages
Thousands of healthcare workers and patients in the State of Mexico are protesting due to unpaid salaries and inadequate medical services. The demonstrations involve staff from the Instituto de Salud del Estado de México (ISEM) and IMSS-Bienestar, spanning multiple municipalities including Toluca, Ecatepec, Chimalhuacán, Naucalpan, and Texcoco.
Workers report that salary payments for the first half of August have been delayed, affecting approximately 9,000 employees. In Toluca, some medical units have entered an indefinite strike, though emergency services remain operational. Beyond wage issues, protesters are demanding better working conditions, more permanent contracts to ensure job security, and the provision of essential medical supplies, ambulances, and functioning equipment.
