Healthspan focus rises as global aging population grows
The concept of healthspan—the period of life spent in good health, free from chronic disease and disability—is becoming a central focus in aging research and wellness. Rather than focusing on anti-aging promises, evidence-based wellness companies are increasingly prioritizing mobility and daily functional strength to help individuals maintain independence.
Global demographic shifts are making healthy aging a public health priority. The World Health Organization projects that 1 in 6 people worldwide will be aged 60 or older by 2030, reaching a global population of 1.4 billion. In the United States, 2034 is expected to be the first year on record where adults over 65 outnumber children under 18.
While life expectancy has increased, many older adults face challenges managing chronic conditions that impede daily tasks. These health limitations often begin in the home before escalating to requirements for hospital or primary care intervention.
