Hearing aid prices in Germany fall despite rising inflation

While consumer prices in Germany have been rising for several months, the price of hearing aids has moved in the opposite direction. According to data from the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the price index for hearing aids fell by 1.9% between July 2025 and July 2026, dropping from 108.5 to 106.4 points.

In contrast, the general Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 2.8% during the same period, reaching 125.6 points in July 2026. This creates a 4.7 percentage point gap between general inflation and the declining cost of hearing assistance. The price index for hearing aids reached its lowest point of 106.0 in May 2026 before a slight recovery in July.
