Heart attack clusters reported in Akçaabat and Ardahan

Multiple regions in Turkey have reported a series of sudden heart attack deaths, causing local concern. In Akçaabat, three individuals—including local businessman Olgun Aktaş, Faik Serdar, and Baki Sebetci—passed away from heart attacks on the same day. While these incidents sparked local speculation regarding COVID-19 vaccines, medical experts have refuted such claims, noting that scientific research shows vaccines do not cause heart attacks and that the virus itself poses higher cardiac risks.

In Ardahan, a similar trend of consecutive heart attack cases has been observed, including the death of Tuncay Boy and a medical emergency involving local political figure Sevim Köseliören. Cardiologists attribute the increase in such cases in high-altitude, continental climates to environmental stressors. Factors such as extreme temperature fluctuations causing vasoconstriction, lower oxygen pressure at high altitudes, and heavy physical exertion in harsh conditions are cited as significant contributors to increased cardiac workload and arterial issues.
