Heat and thunderstorms forecast for Haiti, authorities urge precautions
The Haitian Hydro-Meteorological Unit (UHM) issued a weather bulletin for July 3‑5, 2026 warning of hot, humid conditions with temperatures reaching 33‑37 °C by day and 19‑23 °C at night. Isolated to strong afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected across several departments, including Centre, Ouest, Grand‑Anse, Sud‑Est, Artibonite and Nippes. The agency advises the public to stay hydrated, limit exposure to the sun between 10 h and 16 h, wear light clothing, reduce strenuous activity during peak heat, and closely monitor vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. A slight increase in humidity and storm activity is also forecast for the following weekend, especially in the northern regions and Artibonite.
