Heat pump satisfaction reaches 95 percent among homeowners
A survey conducted by the Öko-Institut, the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research (ifeu), and co2online reveals high levels of satisfaction among heat pump users. Approximately 94.9 percent of the 1,460 homeowners surveyed reported being satisfied or very satisfied with the technology.
Experts suggest that heat pumps are suitable for more than 90 percent of existing buildings, often without the need for extensive renovations or the installation of underfloor heating. While many prospective buyers fear that old buildings require complete insulation or new flooring systems, experts note that large radiators can often provide sufficient warmth even at lower water temperatures.
Despite the positive experiences of current users, several barriers to adoption remain. Approximately 80 percent of respondents perceive the initial purchase costs as too high, and 50 percent indicate that their current heating systems have not yet reached the end of their lifespan. Additionally, misconceptions persist, with about half of potential users believing comprehensive renovations are mandatory and nearly one-third believing underfloor heating is essential for efficient operation.
