Heated Rivalry season 2 expands cast and production details

The second season of the LGBTQIA+ sports drama ‘Heated Rivalry’ has expanded its cast with six new actors: Brendan Morgan, David Tomlinson, Gerry Dee, Michelle Mylett, Lauren Chan, and Nick Stahl. The series, based on Rachel Reid’s ‘Game Changers’ book saga, is produced by Accent Aigu Entertainment in association with Crave and will be available on HBO Max.

Season 2 is expected to adapt ‘The Long Game’ while incorporating elements from ‘Role Model’. HBO Max content head Casey Bloys expressed high confidence in the production, noting that he is ‘thrilled’ with the scripts. While some reports suggest a premiere in the spring in New York, other production timelines point toward a 2027 release.

Creator Jacob Tierney emphasized that the new season will focus on emotion and execution rather than spoiler-driven twists. The production continues to build on the foundation of the first season, which centered on the relationship between hockey rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
