Heathrow rail services disrupted by flooding and tunnel closure

Rail services connecting central London to Heathrow Airport have faced severe disruptions due to flooding and a tunnel closure. Transport for London (TfL) reported no service between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow terminals, with severe delays affecting lines toward Paddington.

National Rail confirmed that a tunnel was closed for safety reasons, resulting in a reduced service for both the Elizabeth line and the Heathrow Express. The disruption, attributed to flooding between Hayes & Harlington and the airport, has forced commuters and air travelers to seek alternative routes via buses or the underground, significantly increasing journey times.

While the flooding has impacted the Elizabeth line, reports noted that London has recently experienced a dry spell, leading to confusion regarding the cause of the water ingress. Other minor disruptions were noted on the Victoria line and certain tram services due to planned engineering works.
