As winter approaches, consumers in Croatia and Serbia are preparing for rising heating costs. Experts warn that the most economical heating method depends on individual household factors, including building insulation, heating surface area, and the efficiency of stoves or boilers.

In Serbia, Vera Ražnatović from the Association for Energy and Mining of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) notes that wood remains a top option for household budgets, provided it is purchased at a favorable price and used in efficient stoves. While pellets offer greater comfort through automatic dosing and less ash, they are more expensive per unit of cost than wood.

In Croatia, there are concerns regarding the availability and price of fuel. Wood prices have risen, with some costs reaching 700 to 1000 euros. Additionally, pellet production is significant, but high demand and export needs could lead to shortages. Industry representatives advise citizens to purchase supplies while temperatures are still warm to avoid the peak seasonal price hikes and potential scarcity.
