Heating technologies shift toward heat pumps and ceiling systems
Residential heating trends are shifting toward more efficient and automated technologies. In Croatia, an increasing number of households are moving away from wood and pellet heating in favor of heat pumps to achieve more predictable energy consumption and reduced maintenance requirements.
Heat pump technologies include air-to-air, air-to-water, and water-to-water systems. While air-to-water systems are widely used in Hungary due to their ease of installation, their efficiency can be influenced by external temperatures. When paired with solar panels, these systems can significantly reduce electricity costs. Effectiveness is highly dependent on proper building insulation and the type of distribution system used.
Alternative methods such as ceiling heating are also noted for their potential. This technology uses pipes to circulate warm or cold water through the ceiling to regulate indoor temperature, offering a sustainable and cost-effective heating and cooling option that can be combined with underfloor heating.
