Heat‑related toddler deaths in cars reported in US and Japan

In Little Rock, Arkansas, a toddler named Anderson Lewis V died after being left unattended in a car for more than eight hours while a daycare provider drove the vehicle to the school premises. The Arkansas Department of Education ordered the daycare's closure and the incident is being investigated as possible homicide.

In Kumamoto, Japan, an 11‑month‑old boy died after his mother left him in a car for up to an hour on a day when temperatures reached 32.5 °C. The child was found unresponsive and could not be revived despite emergency resuscitation efforts. Police are continuing their investigation.

Both cases highlight the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles during hot weather and have prompted renewed calls for stricter safety measures.
