Heavy machinery accidents reported in Peru and Mexico

Two separate industrial accidents involving heavy machinery have been reported in Peru and Mexico.

In the Layo district of Peru, a motor grader belonging to the Municipalidad Distrital de Layo fell over 70 meters into a ravine while performing road maintenance. The operator reported that a suspected mechanical failure in the braking or control systems caused the loss of maneuverability on steep terrain. The operator managed to exit the cabin seconds before the vehicle fell, and no injuries or fatalities were reported. Local authorities and the Peruvian National Police have initiated investigations.

In Mérida, Mexico, a worker was injured at a steel products warehouse when a forklift crushed his foot. The incident occurred during unloading operations when the operator turned into a blind spot, pinning the worker against a structure. Emergency responders from the Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) rescued the individual and transported him to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Authorities are investigating the safety conditions at the site.
