Heavy metal artists Fog Wall and Vagevuur release new music

Recent independent music releases highlight diverse heavy metal projects. Reno, Nevada-based duo Fog Wall has released ‘Gloomweaver’, a blend of death metal, doom, and hardcore influences. The project draws lyrical inspiration from the dark themes found in FromSoftware Studios games, such as ‘Elden Ring’ and ‘Dark Souls’. The album features tracks like ‘Knife, Sting, Tooth’ and includes a cover of Type O Negative.

In the Dutch-language metal scene, the quartet Vagevuur has released the single ‘Ontheemd’. The track is described as a mix of post-metal, sludge, and doom, characterized by a transition from melancholic, slow passages to intense, noisy guitar work and piercing vocals. The song explores themes of abandonment, loss of identity, and existential despair.
