Heavy Rain and Flood Watch Hit Southeast Minnesota and North Iowa
After a week‑and‑a‑half of dry weather, a low‑pressure system moving in late Thursday night is expected to bring soaking, occasionally heavy rain across southeast Minnesota and north Iowa on Friday. Rainfall could exceed 3 inches in localized spots, with most areas seeing 0.5‑2 inches.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Steele and Freeborn counties, as well as additional surrounding counties. Because the ground is dry, it should absorb much of the water, keeping river levels near normal, though officials will monitor for any localized flooding. Skies are forecast to clear later Friday into Saturday, leading to a warm weekend.
