Heavy rain causes flooding in Samut Prakan and Samut Sakhon
Heavy rainfall has triggered flooding and water management concerns across Samut Sakhon and Samut Prakan provinces in Thailand.
In Samut Sakhon, Governor Ammat Charoensri inspected the Klong Phasi Charoen water gate system to ensure readiness following continuous heavy rain. Officials are monitoring high-risk areas and managing water levels in main and secondary canals to prevent overflow. Authorities have ordered 24-hour surveillance and prepared water pumps to mitigate potential impacts on the Krathum Baen district.
In Samut Prakan, intense rain has caused flooding on several major roads, including Thepharak, Srinakarin, Sukhumvit, and Phraeksa. Small vehicles are facing difficulties navigating submerged lanes. Local authorities have deployed numerous water pumps across multiple stations to drain the streets. The situation is complicated by rising sea levels and high canal water levels, which are slowing drainage efforts.
