Heavy Rain Floods Çorum, Turkey, Causing Road Inundation and Sidewalk Collapse

A sudden, intense downpour struck the central Turkish city of Çorum, turning streets into temporary lakes and flooding businesses. The rain rapidly overwhelmed drainage, leaving motorists and pedestrians struggling to navigate waterlogged roads.

On İnönü Caddesi, a section of the sidewalk collapsed under the weight of the water, creating a hazardous gap especially for visually‑impaired walkers who rely on tactile guide paths. Municipal crews placed vehicle tires and temporary barriers around the breach and warned residents to avoid the area while repairs are arranged. Authorities have initiated cleanup operations and issued safety advisories for the remainder of the storm.
