Heavy Rain Fuels Flood Warnings in Vermont and Upstate New York

A slow‑moving weather system is bringing repeated rounds of heavy rain and thunderstorms to southern Vermont and the Adirondack region of northern New York through Wednesday night. The National Weather Service forecasts 0.5–2 inches of rain, with higher amounts possible where storms linger, raising the risk of flash flooding in communities such as Brattleboro, Bennington, Manchester, Rutland, Middlebury, Burlington, Plattsburgh, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. In Rochester, New York, the same storm complex has knocked out power for nearly 3,000 customers, prompting a Yellow Alert. Outages affect about 2,700 RG&E customers and over 100 National Grid customers in Monroe County.
