Heavy rainfall delays Koondooloo property sale in Darling Downs
Significant rainfall in eastern Australia has delayed the expressions of interest campaign for Koondooloo, a 271-hectare (669-acre) irrigation and dryland farm in the Ellangowan district. The property, located in the inner Darling Downs near Clifton and Toowoomba, recently received over 200mm of rain, prompting the sale deadline to be extended to November 23.
The Blanch family is offering the property as part of a succession plan. Koondooloo features deep alluvial soils, 75 megalitres of licensed water, and a modern five-span Valley centre-pivot irrigator. The land has historically been used for barley, wheat, and canola, but following the recent rains, it is slated to be planted with sorghum.
Marketing agent Michael Tomlinson of Webster Cavanagh Rural noted that on-the-ground inspections will depend on how quickly the country dries out. The property includes 4.3km of Condamine River frontage and 4.2km of Kings Creek frontage.
