Heavy rainfall impacts Western Norway

Western Norway is experiencing significant rainfall, with several areas approaching typical monthly precipitation levels within the first week of August. In Eimhjellen, Gloppen municipality, 180 mm of rain has been recorded, nearly reaching the normal total for the entire month.

Meteorologists from the Meteorological Institute report that persistent low-pressure systems are driving the wet weather. Bergen has already received 93.2 mm of rain. Forecasters warn that conditions will remain gray and wet, with the potential for yellow weather warnings for heavy rain in areas north of Stad, where between 50 and 70 mm could fall within a 12-hour period.

Temperatures are expected to remain low, ranging between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius, well below the Nordic summer threshold of 20 degrees. While a brief pause in rain is anticipated mid-week, the overall pattern suggests a wet period for the Norwegian coast.
