Heavy rains cause flooding and infrastructure damage in Rio de Janeiro

Heavy rainfall has caused significant disruption across parts of Rio de Janeiro state. In Cambuci, the municipality is under a general alert following intense storms that devastated rural and urban infrastructure. In the locality of Frecheiras, strong torrents caused erosion that swallowed parts of the terrain, leading to the total or partial closure of strategic roads. This has isolated residents and hindered the transport of goods. In the Monte Verde district, dirt roads have turned into thick mud, making vehicle passage difficult. Additionally, rising water levels in the Dantas Stream have placed the urban center and low-lying areas under immediate threat.

In Campos, the Civil Defense is monitoring overcast skies and the possibility of isolated showers. Recent rainfall measurements showed the highest accumulations in Serrinha at 17.4 mm and Morro do Coco at 11.2 mm. Local authorities continue to monitor meteorological conditions to ensure public safety.
