Heavy rains disrupt transport and temple access in Tamil Nadu

Heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu has caused significant disruptions across several districts. In Virudhunagar, the government transport corporation’s bus depot was inundated, submerging fuel-filling and maintenance areas. This flooding has hindered refueling and repair work, leading to delays and stranded buses on rural routes. Employees have called for a permanent solution to the recurring waterlogging in the low-lying depot area.

In the Western Ghats, the Forest Department has prohibited trekking to the Sathuragiri Sundara Mahalingam Temple near Vathirairuppu. Increased water flow in mountain streams due to heavy rain has raised safety concerns for devotees during the Pradosham and full moon period.

Additionally, Ranipet district has experienced thunderstorms and strong winds, causing inconvenience to commuters, students, and roadside vendors.
