Heavy rains flood southern districts and cripple traffic in Mexico City

Intense rainfall across Mexico caused flooding, fallen trees and severe road disruptions in the southern part of a city, prompting emergency responses and local chaos.

In Mexico City, the downpour combined with ongoing public demonstrations slowed vehicle speeds to 15‑20 km/h on main corridors such as Circuito Interior, Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas, Paseo de la Reforma and Calzada de Tlalpan. Metro lines 1, 2, 3, 8 and 9 experienced delays of up to 12 minutes per station, and many stations operated at reduced capacity under a safety‑march protocol. Authorities warned commuters to check service updates before travel and anticipated traffic problems to continue until evening.
