Heavy Summer Traffic Expected on West Pomeranian Highways to Baltic Coast

During the summer vacation period, Poland’s West Pomeranian road network sees a sharp increase in vehicle flow, especially on the main routes to the Baltic Sea such as the S3, S11/DK11, and the combined S3‑S6 stretch near Szczecin. Data from last year’s General Traffic Measurement show daily traffic on the S3 near Goleniowo rising from about 25,000 vehicles in January to 52,000 in August, while the S11 segment ‑ Koszalin – Zegrze Pomorskie ‑ jumped from 5,500 to 16,500. Weekend peaks cause notable bottlenecks on the S3‑S6 corridor, near the Klucz junction and the Goleniów‑North node, as well as on DK11 between Bobolic and Szczecinek where the S11 is under construction. Authorities advise drivers to avoid the busiest periods (Fridays 16‑20 h, Saturdays 10‑18 h, Sundays 10‑16 h) and to consider alternative regional roads. Recent completions of the S3 segment ‑ Świnoujście – Troszyn, the S6 stretch ‑ Koszalin – Słupsk, and the Western Bypass of Szczecin are expected to improve travel times along the Baltic corridor.
