Heavy trucks bypass barriers on Bulevar Frank Rainieri in Bávaro

Heavy cargo trucks are reportedly ignoring physical barriers and performing U-turns on Bulevar Frank Rainieri in Bávaro, despite measures implemented by the Ministry of Public Works to reorganize traffic. The barriers were installed to prevent these maneuvers and direct heavy vehicles toward a designated turnaround point used by trucks traveling to a nearby caliche mine.

Recent video footage shows multiple trucks executing consecutive U-turns in front of a supermarket, forcing other motorists to stop or yield unexpectedly. While RD Vial personnel previously provided surveillance to control traffic following an intervention on September 18, the recent absence of visible monitoring has allowed these unauthorized maneuvers to resume.

The situation has raised significant road safety concerns due to a previous fatal accident at the same location involving a motorcyclist. Although the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) had planned to improve the intersection, the continued disregard for the installed walls highlights a lack of consistent enforcement.
