Hecla Mining stock rises amid precious metal gains and BlackRock investment
Hecla Mining Company has seen a significant rise in its stock price during August, driven by increasing gold and silver prices. Following U.S. Treasury announcements regarding measures to curb rising government bond yields, precious metals have gained momentum, with gold and silver prices rising 2.4% and 4.7% respectively in a recent session.
In the second quarter, BlackRock Inc. established a substantial position in Hecla Mining, purchasing over 70 million shares valued at approximately $1.09 billion. This investment brings BlackRock’s ownership of the company to roughly 10.48%. Other institutional investors, including Deutsche Bank AG and Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management Co. Ltd., also recently acquired stakes in the company.
Hecla Mining projects gold production of 51,000 to 55,000 ounces and silver production of 15.1 to 16.1 million ounces for the year 2026. The company currently maintains a market capitalization of approximately $13.96 billion.
