Hedera network analysis highlights low transaction fees and supply dynamics
Recent analysis of the Hedera network reveals a discrepancy between the multibillion-dollar market value of its native token, HBAR, and the relatively low daily network fees, which currently amount to only a few hundred dollars. While Hedera provides cost-effective infrastructure for enterprise users by pricing fees in US dollars but collecting them in HBAR, this mechanism stabilizes costs for businesses but may limit upward pressure on token demand.
Institutional activity on the network includes partnerships with Taurus, which provides HBAR custody and staking services to over 40 banks. Additionally, Lloyds Banking Group, Aberdeen Investments, and Archax utilized the network in July 2025 to facilitate FX trades using tokenized money-market fund units and UK gilts as collateral.
Regarding tokenomics, approximately 87.71 percent of the fixed 50 billion HBAR supply had been released by the end of Q3 2026. While regulatory clarity has improved, with the SEC listing HBAR as an example of a digital commodity in April 2026, analysts note that the network must still navigate its remaining supply schedule.
