Hedgehog dietary habits and fly consumption

Hedgehogs are opportunistic omnivores that can consume flies as part of their natural diet. While flies, beetles, caterpillars, and worms form a significant portion of what wild hedgehogs eat, they should not serve as a primary food source. In addition to insects, hedgehogs may consume invertebrates like snails and slugs, small vertebrates such as frogs or lizards, and various plant matter including berries and roots.
